Author Suzanne Collins has declared the release of her new “Hunger Games” book, “Sunrise on the Reaping,” coming next year. The Associated Press reports that this fifth entry in Collins’ popular series–which inspired a hit movie franchise–will serve as a prequel to the original trilogy. It’s set four decades after the most recent story, the film-adapted “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” which debuted last year. Readers can expect to see “Sunrise on the Reaping” hit shelves on March 18, 2025.

“‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ was sparked by David Hume’s thought on implicit surrender and his phrase ‘how simply the multitude follows the few,'” said Collins to the AP. “This narrative naturally unfolds into a serious look at propaganda and the might of people shaping the story. The query, ‘True or untrue?’ sounds increasingly critical to me every day.”
There’s chatter about “Sunrise on the Reaping” possibly hitting the cinema. Its precursors, including “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” made a splash, raking in a cool $337.4 million. Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth got to shine in that one.
Now, let’s throwback to the big start – four films lifted from the original trilogy. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, those flicks were major hits and boosted her to global stardom. 💫 Those movies didn’t just capture hearts; they filled the pockets too. In fact, the whole “Hunger Games” franchise has made Lionsgate a nice $3.3 billion. That’s the 🥈 20th spot in the highest-grossing series ever!
