First of all, let us tell you that this recruitment is for Level 1 and Level 2 posts. There are 2 vacancies in Level 2 and there are total 12 vacancies in Level 1, which are in Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Palakkad, of Southern Railway. These are distributed in Thiruvananthapuram, and Salem divisions. Integral Coach Factory or ICF also have one post for Level 2 and two posts for Level 1 available. Eligibility Criteria

Now let’s talk about the eligibility criteria for this recruitment. To apply in this quota, the candidate must:

1. Be a President’s Scout, Guide, Rover or Ranger, or else the candidate can also be a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder.
2. The candidate should be an active member of the Scouts organization for the last 5 years, the proof of which you will have to submit along with the Activity Certificate.
3. You should have attended two National or All India Railways level events and should also have participated in two State level events.
4. You also have to remember that your activity certificate should be valid which confirms that you are an active member from 2019 till date.

Age Criteria and Relaxation

Now let’s talk about the age limit:

• The age limit for Level 2 candidates is 18 to 30 years, and for Level 1 it is 18 to 33 years.
• If you are from SC/ST category, you will get 5 years of age relaxation and OBC candidates have been given 3 years relaxation.
• There is also a separate relaxation for widows and divorced women, in which the limit is 35 years for UR category, 38 years for OBC and up to 40 years for SC/ST.
• You must check the official notification for specific details of age relaxation, because there are different rules for different categories.

Selection Process

You must be wondering how the selection process will be? So there are two stages in selection:

Written Test: This test will be of one hour duration which will have 40 objective questions and 1 essay type question related to Scouts and Guides organization. Objective questions will be of 40 marks and essay question will be of 20 marks, for total 60 marks.

There will be negative marking also, so 1/3rd marks will be deducted for wrong answer.
Certificate Marks: Additional 40 marks will depend on your scouting and guiding certificates.

If you have attended National or State level events then separate marks will be given for that, like National Jamboree, State Events, District Rallies, and if you have done some specialized courses then separate points will be given for that too. Overall you can earn up to 100 marks.

Application Process and Important Dates

Now let’s talk about the application process and important dates.

1. For this recruitment, applications have to be filled online. You have to go to the RRC Chennai website, rrcmas.in, from where you can fill the application form.
2. The opening date of the application is 5 October 2024 and the closing date is 4 November 2024, so you have to fill your form on time.
3. The fee for this application is ₹500 for general candidates, out of which ₹400 can be refunded if you appear in the written test. The fee for SC, ST and some special category candidates is ₹250, out of which ₹250 will be refunded if you appear in the exam.
